Collating Information Gleaned from In-Depth Interviews

After the interviews, the interviewer and observer will collate all the responses into a comprehensive list of identified needs.

  1. Read through the interview notes together.
  2. Identify explicit fears, frustrations, anxieties and problems recorded.
  3. Create a comprehensive list of the issues expressed. Do not discard any items. Even the seemingly trivial ones should be included.
  4. Eliminate duplications.

Submit the final list to the survey designers. The list will be combined with information from other needs assessment methods to create a "straw model" (a working framework for future discussion and revision in a group process) that will form the basis for designing the needs assessment survey.
