Medication Research Partnership (MRP)
Overview
Testing "Systems Change Strategies" to increase access to medication for patients dependent on opioids or alcohol
This 22-month long project tests strategies to facilitate medication-assisted treatment and enhance integration of medical care and addiction treatment within a commercial health plan.
Participating treatment centers will be interviewed periodically to examine barriers, challenges, and change strategies to implementing medication-assisted treatment.
The interventions build on our experience with Advancing Recovery making system changes that supported implementation of evidence-based practices.
The proposal has three specific aims:
- Facilitate adoption of medications by comparing 12 treatment centers utilizing Advancing Recovery with 12 matched comparison sites
- Assess impacts on healthcare utilization and expenditures
- Conduct qualitative interviews and document implementation barriers and change strategies
