How often should we do change projects?

Posted by daveg on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 02:03 PM

Benjamin Franklin is credited with the saying, “When you're finished changing, you're finished.” The NIATx model encourages organizations to develop cultures of continuous improvement. Often, one successful change project sparks a need for a subsequent project. For example, offering walk-in appointments will generally increase admissions—resulting in a need to reschedule staff.

Says NIATx coach Mat Roosa: “During the early stages of implementing this model it is helpful to leave enough room between the changes to fully understand and celebrate results, but not so much time that you are vulnerable to losing momentum. You have to keep the flywheel spinning.”
