Even in our increasingly digital world, paperwork continues to create a barrier to accessing many kinds of services. Analyzing the paperwork required at various stages of the process and determining which information is redundant or unnecessary—or which information could be completed at a later stage—can help streamline your services and boost customer satisfaction and staff morale.

The walk-through

Conduct a NIATx walk-through exercise to identify all the paperwork a client has to complete. Consider who has to fill out each form and whether a counselor or other staff person has to be present when a client fills out a form. Would the volume of paperwork seem overwhelming to a new client?
