Physician Education Forums
Physicians are often unaware of practice opportunities in addiction medicine. A physician education forum can build awareness of these opportunities.
These forums can also describe how physicians can reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic in their communities by becoming buprenorphine prescribers.
Invite physicians who are currently prescribing buprenorphine to present at outreach and education forums. Ask them to give presentations on:
- The rewards of providing medication-assisted treatment
- Better treatment outcomes with buprenorphine
- The business case for buprenorphine
- Obtaining the DATA 2000 waiver
- Collaborating with treatment agencies to provide counseling in conjunction with medication
