CSAT Offender Re-entry Program

"Substance abuse treatment for offenders in prison and in the community has been extensively studied and evaluated over the past several years, and the results are consistent and clear – treatment works, reducing crime and recidivism."1

A multitude of criminal, justice, treatment, and community agents must connect and interact to provide ex-offenders with the vital care to support recovery, end recidivism, and improve lives.

Meeting the substance use and mental health treatment needs of offenders leaving incarceration is essential to their re-integration to their families and communities.

NIATx is working to improve the capacity and quality of this multi-system approach through technical assistance to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Offender Reentry Program (ORP) grantees.
