Getting ready for healthcare reform: NIATx Fee-for-Service Learning Collaborative

Submitted by: 05/11/2012 by Maureen Fitzgerald

Providers in the NIATx Fee-for-Service Learning Collaborative are learning to create and improve their billing systems and negotiate contracts with third-party payers. They’re also getting guidance from national experts on the best ways to prepare for the changes anticipated with healthcare reform.

Becky Vaughn, Executive Director of the State Associations of Addictions Services (SAAS) outlined some of these activities in a recent webinar, “Implementing Healthcare Reform.” One of the first and most important things that agencies need to do is recognize the need to transform. Educating their boards, managers, and staff, and assessing their strengths and weaknesses will also help agencies plan and implement their transformations.
