Free webinar: Promoting collaboration between substance abuse providers and hospitals

Submitted by: 01/04/2013 by Maureen Fitzgerald

People with substance use disorders often suffer from multiple chronic illnesses.

Recently, more hospitals are finding that identifying and treating substance use disorders in high-risk patients reduces hospital readmissions, average lengths of inpatient stay, returns to ICU, and overall costs.

These innovative projects are often collaborations between community substance abuse and other behavioral health care providers and community hospitals.

The Expanding SBIRT to Hospitals learning collaborative offers free webinars the third Monday of each month. This month’s webinar features presentations on successful collaborations between substance abuse treatment and other behavioral health providers and hospitals.
