This year we’re celebrating your innovative spirit with the theme of “Innovation, integration, implementation: the business of behavioral healthcare.”
We’ve got a great lineup of plenary speakers again this year. “Innovative” is one way to describe our opening plenary speaker. Dan Thurmon, president of Motivation Works, Inc., definitely puts a new spin on how to manage change. We think you’ll enjoy his unique style and compelling message. You’ll get the latest health reform news from our federal Leadership plenary, featuring Pamela S. Hyde, Administrator of The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). And our closing plenary, “Smartphones, Glowcaps, and the Technology of Healthcare,” brings NIATx Director Dave Gustafson together with inventor David Rose of Vitality, famous for the pill bottles that know when you’re supposed to take your medication. Rounding out the panel is invited guest Emily Kilpatrick from San Diego’s Qualcomm—the company that by some estimates launched the wireless revolution.
Back by popular demand are the Deep Dive sessions—these expert-led sessions allow you to immerse yourself and really absorb new information and ideas. We’ve also brought back the “How-to” workshops that you liked so much last year. The Deep Dives and workshops will give you a set of steps to follow for innovating, integrating, or implementing as soon as you get back to your organization.
We’ve built in plenty of time for networking, and we’ve designated Monday night just for that.
You won’t want to miss “A Taste of San Diego,” a party on the terrace of our hotel, the San Diego Marriot Marquis and Marina. We think you’ll enjoy connecting with your colleagues and the awesome view of “the city with the perfect climate!”
NIATx and SAAS have enjoyed presenting the joint Summit/National Conference since 2008. Each year we have strived to bring you the best conference experience possible. Lining up great speakers, idea-packed workshops, and fun networking events has culminated every year in the excitement of seeing you enjoy our combined effort. We can’t wait to see you again this year! While this conference will mark the end of our collaboration as conference hosts, NIATx and SAAS will continue to work together on a variety of other activities to support behavioral health professionals and improve the quality of the treatment system.
