The 2013 NIATx Summit and SAAS National Conference will feature a variety of speakers and workshops on technology and the essential role it plays in innovation, integration, and implementation in behavioral healthcare.
Dave Gustafson, Director of NIATx, has spent his career focused on researching, developing, and implementing healthcare technology to help people manage chronic disease such as addiction. He’ll share some of his latest thinking, along with healthcare technology innovator David Rose, in the closing plenary session on July 16.
Technology will also support the integration of primary care and behavioral healthcare. Technology-based systems can address chronic illness and behavioral health issues simultaneously—potentially changing the existing system that separates primary care and behavioral health. “Integration Triple Play: Align, Combine, or Redesign,” one of this year’s Deep Dive sessions, presents three different models for integration, including one that aims to redesign addiction treatment delivery through use of a mobile phone based system.
Implementing technology is the focus of several of this year’s “How-to” workshops. Attendees will be able to choose from workshops on how to implement an electronic health record, how to assess their readiness to implement technology, and how to prepare for innovations expected to emerge in the near future.
“This year’s event is organized specifically to provide attendees with the information and strategies they need to thrive in the new environment of healthcare reform,” says Kim Johnson, Deputy Director of NIATx. “We’re looking forward to another great conference.”
