Thirty-one organizations representing 16 states are participating in the NIATx Partnering with New Payers Initiative. The project launched with its first Interest Circle Webinar on February 23. Over the course of this ten-month project, participants will build skills required to partner with private sector payers, including self-insurers, employee assistance programs, managed care companies, and insurance companies.
In addition to learning best practices to improve billing and reduce claim denials, the participating organizations will learn how to use marketing techniques to attract new payers. “Many treatment organizations that have relied solely on block grants or other public funding have not had to think about how to market their services to new payers,” says Amy McIlvaine, NIATx Director of Educational Services. “This project will help participants develop an action plan with specific steps to follow for becoming a provider payers want to work with.”
